THOMAS'S STORY
Thomas is 27 and works as a graphic designer. He feels his manager does not support him and is overly critical of his behaviour and delays. Thomas feels this in turn impacts on the work and credibility at work. He finds himself second guessing his work so that it is often delayed. He like his colleagues and job, other than the interaction with his immediate boss. He feels he is competent and good at his work.
Goal : "I want to get on better with my boss and be able to perform better at work"
Sessions: 2, 2 weeks apart
Outcome : After exploring the problem, Thomas realised he was too much of a perfectionist and the fear of his peers and boss not liking his work was the main cause of his second guessing. He also discovered there were high levels of anxiety around his work, and himself personally, being criticised. Through this understanding, he agreed to have an honest and frank conversation with his boss. As a result he was able to change the dynamic of his work and his relationship with his boss. Now, typically, he will involve his boss in greater detail during the processing of a piece of work. Thomas now trusts his boss for having his interests at heart. His boss agreed to use less critical language and be more encouraging. Thomas also recognises criticism isn't always negative and can be a path to learning. Thomas is now in a much happier relationship with his boss and is performing better as a result.

DAVID'S STORY
David is lawyer in high pressure job, which is engaging but tiring due to all the attention to details. His time is mostly spent between commuting and long hours work. This has led to his family being unhappy and equally his social life disappearing almost completely. David presented himself as confident, not unhappy but realising he needed to balance his life more so without knowing how. His primary fear was not doing his job up to the standard expected of him. He had no idea what to do to get out of this situation.
Goal: "To balance my life between work, social and family"
Coaching: 3 coaching sessions, 1 month apart each.
Outcome: We explored all of the options and possibilities, always in congruence with David's life and work choices. Eventually, David was encouraged also to speak to his team and bosses at work. As a result, over a two-month period, David transitioned his life. David was able to work from home two days a week, combined with 1 overnight stay at his work. Through this he was able to work harder when he was at work, feel less tired and spend more time with the family. He took up golf once again with friends he reconnected with. He is also learning conversational Spanish during his commutes.

JANE'S STORY
Jane is 30 and a customer relations manager during the day and teaches piano and contemporary dancing three nights a week. Jane feels she is a crossroads with her work life and if she carries on the way she is, then all that will happen is that she'll grow older and miss the happiness that her part time evening work represents. This is balanced by the need to bring in money to live. There is little money in her evening job with no idea ow to turn it into a business. She felt very lost and unhappy at the prospect of being stuck with her day job only.
Goal: "To eventually leave my day job and move toward doing something I enjoy and it be financially ok"
Coaching: 2 sessions, 1 week apart
Outcome: Jane gained basic business running skills and is expanding them all the time. She set up a website and social media visibility. She was able to go back to all the people she had taught and boost her recommendation levels. She was able to share premises and only pay for the evening she used them with the ability to expand. Jane was able to find part time work that paid more pro-rata than her old job. She is at a level she finds acceptable, one that pays her bills but also allows her to expand into her dream. She is planning that within 12 months that her tutoring will pay enough to pursue it full time.

WARREN'S STORY
Warren was recommended to me. He works at a large retail chain and has worked there for 10 years. He shares a house with a friend but finds it hard to engage with people. His house partner is a very social and will often have friends around or parties. Warren will excuse himself to his room. At work he fills in shelves, stock takes and sometimes acts as cashier. Warren is educated to A level and feels unhappy with his work. His siblings seem to be happy in a way that he feels he can't be.
Goal: "To change my work and to be more sociable".
Coaching: 2 sessions
Outcome : After exploring all the factors during our sessions, Warren realised most of his behaviour was rooted in fear of failure and how people judged him. With a few techniques he was able to change his outlook from fear of failure to curiosity and progress in a more positive way. He gained confidence in himself as a person. Once Warren understood that failure actually teaches him allowed him to grow, he became much better in social situations and in his outlook on work. He is doing an online course in web design and programming which will help him change his career. He signed up for a life survival course and no longer hides himself away at parties.

SARAH'S STORY
Sarah is in her mid 50s and was recommended to me. Sarah's mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness and was given 4-6 months to live. She lives in a care hospice. Her mother was eating less and less herself in order to end her life earlier. Sarah's relationship with her mother has deterioate over the preceding few months. Her mother felt she shouldn't have money wasted on her and Sarah stated not only did she not want the money but didn't need it either. Whenever she visited, she ends up arguing with her mother. This is destroying her relationship and is making it harder to visit her mum. She also has a sibling who Sarah says is feeling the same way.
Goal: "To have a better relationship with her mother while she is still alive"
Sessions: 2, 1 month apart
Outcome : During the initial sessions we explored, through various techniques, as to why her mother maybe behaving the way she was and Sarah's part in the arguments. Sarah came to the realisation that she should find her mother a more meaningful legacy than leaving the money to her children. I gave her a few useful tools/questions to use and as a result her mother decided to leave the money to a charity for Cats. She organised people from the charity to visit her mum and her mum in turn became more positive and engaging and couldn't wait to share the updates from the charity. This was a very emotional change and through doing this, Sarah felt that she was now having one of the best times in her relationship with her mother.
